In short

What Aura8 Governance is

Aura8's governance services help Australian organisations put practical AI governance in place: a register of the AI tools and systems in use, a short policy, named owners, and evidence they can show clients, boards and insurers. The work follows the Australian Government's Guidance for AI Adoption and its six essential practices. Aura8 prepares the evidence; your legal adviser finalises anything legal.

FAQ

Governance questions

What is AI governance, in plain terms?
AI governance is knowing which AI tools and systems your organisation uses, deciding who's accountable for them, setting clear rules for staff, and keeping records that show the rules are followed. For most small and mid-sized businesses it means an AI register, a short policy, named owners, staff guidance and evidence you can show a client, board or insurer.
Does a small business need AI governance?
If your staff use AI tools with client or business information, yes, in proportion to your size. It doesn't need to be a big project. A short policy, a list of approved tools and someone accountable cover most of the risk. The Australian Government's Guidance for AI Adoption has a foundations version written for organisations getting started.
What are the six essential practices in the Guidance for AI Adoption?
The Guidance for AI Adoption, published by the National AI Centre in October 2025, sets out six essential practices: decide who is accountable; understand impacts and plan accordingly; measure and manage risks; share essential information; test and monitor; and maintain human control. The Guidance for AI Adoption evolves the Voluntary AI Safety Standard into six essential practices.
How do I put the Guidance for AI Adoption into practice in a small business?
Start with an AI register and a staff AI policy, name an accountable owner, then keep evidence of use and review.
How long does it take to put basic AI governance in place?
Most organisations can put the foundations in place within a few weeks: an AI register, a short policy, named owners and clear staff guidance. Keeping it current is the ongoing part, because tools, vendors and features change. A free 20-minute Risk Check will tell you where you're starting from and what to do first.
